He discusses every aspect of shiphandling with tugs, from complex maneuvers to the mechanics of the boat. He also emphasizes that both the pilot of the ship and the captain of the boat must be skilled in their individual tasks as well as able to work in unison. The book has a large number of explanatory diagrams, photos and sketches. Each chapter is followed by a list of comprehension questions that are answered at the end of the book.
